Anyone who reads this blog knows that we like to go fast. From the SpeedLiner to our project cars and the GoodGuys autocross series, everything we do revolves around speed. In fact, stay tuned for an announcement coming very soon about a new development regarding Spectre and some of the hottest driving events in the country.
In the meantime, the pro-touring community has been raving about an event back east called Run Through the Hills in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, hosted by Bill Howell. A hardcore Mopar pro-touring fan, Bill is bringing his driving event to the Left Coast with a new event, the Run to the Coast. Scheduled for April 2-4 at the old air base in El Toro, California and we’re a sponsor!
This will be a fun but hardcore driving event – Bill is encouraging Pro Tourers to drive cross-country to get there, and then to compete in head-to-head competition on the asphalt. Here’s how it breaks down: we will have a kart race at Dromo 1 in Orange County on Friday, then driving competition all day Saturday and a cruise to Spectre HQ on Sunday. The Saturday event includes an extended autocross as well as 0-60-0. Sunday the cruise route will go over some of the most scenic roads in So Cal, and end up at our facility for a very casual BBQ and car show.
Also, Optima has stated that the winner of Run to the Coast will be invited to participate in the next Ultimate Street Car Invitational. The winner is named King of the Coast, and can only be a 1980-or-older car.
The event is basically full for competitors, but everyone is welcome to show up, watch, volunteer, take pictures and have a great time. You can get more info and read all the threads here on Pro-Touring.com.
