Blevins’ Auto is a family owned business based out of the suburban city of Brooksville, Florida located in the Tampa, Florida metropolitan area. Blevins Auto began as Blevin’s Upholstery some 15 years back by the family patriarch, Lee Blevins. Around six years ago, Lee, along with his son Chance Blevins, ventured into the auto restoration and customization industry. This switch in the business model opened new doors for the Blevins clan as they soon found themselves building top notch vehicles for high-profile customers.

One such restoration and customization project is the gorgeous 1951 Chevrolet 3100 pickup the Blevins’ built for a coach from the New Orleans Saints football team. The owner originally came to the Blevins’ Auto shop in search of custom auto upholstery work. As the conversation continued the Blevins’ soon found themselves contracted into a complete vehicle restoration project. The New Orleans Saints football coach appreciated the straightforward and honest approach that Blevins’ Auto takes when doing business.

This 1951 Chevy 3100 spent over 50 years as a farm truck before it came to Blevins’ Auto. Luckily the truck was in one piece, although it needed extensive restoration work. Most of the body work is original with the exception of the bed sides. “Even the new reproduction parts take a lot of work to make them fit right and look good,” according to Chance Blevins. While most of the steel body panels might be original, the old iron under the hood was swapped for a modern aluminum block Chevrolet LS-3 engine. Since the LS-3 6.2L Chevy V8 was originally designed for use in a 2008-2013 Chevy Corvette, Chance had to get creative when it came to a muscle car air intake for the 1951 Chevy pickup.

Working in conjunction with Mike Morrow, Spectre Performance Brand Manager, Chance Blevins created a unique dual filter muscle car air intake system color matched to the truck’s exterior. At the heart of this muscle car air intake is part number 98261, Spectre's Over-The-Top LSX Air Intake Plenum. This high quality polished aluminum sheet metal plenum is mated to a Spectre Performance 4 inch outside diameter Y-Pipe air intake tubes, number 97997. The two-into-one Y-pipe allowed Chance Blevins to run two Spectre clamp-on high performance air filters HPR9616B. The pre-died blue synthetic air filter media perfectly complements the truck’s paint.

It’s products like these unique, and innovative muscle car air intake systems from Spectre Performance that allows custom vehicle builders like Blevins’ Auto to add a distinctive touch to each build. Of the custom muscle car air intake, Chance Blevins reported “We used this Spectre Performance setup because we were limited on space. It looks really good and it’s functional.”

Other personalized touches to the 1951 Chevy 3100 pickup include an amazing interior covered in Peanut Butter Leather with bits of Ostrich leather on the door panels, headliner, and seats. Hand painted and light airbrushed touches compliment the exterior of the truck; as does the all-new wooden bed, and side rails. Chance Blevins painted the wood panels the same blue as the truck and then proceeded to sand down to the wood. This left just a hint of blue color embedded in the natural wood grain, which he then covered with many layers of clear coat paint.

The truck gets its amazing stance from the Fatman Chassis down below and is equipped with full Air Ride Technologies suspension. 2.5” stainless steel exhaust and ProXS mufflers from Borla exit just in front of the rear wheels for good looks and great sound. Speaking of great sound, a Pioneer touch screen and MTX speakers provide the driver with top quality sound inside the cab. After all, what’s an old farm truck without some tunes?
