Goodguys Del Mar Car Show Brings Out Several Vehicles With Spectre Air Intakes
- Apr 13, 2016
Spectre Performance has been attending Goodguys Rod and Custom Car Shows for the past nine years. Spectre’s long rooted history has helped build relationships with consumers and increase product awareness. Due to this, it is not uncommon to walk through the aisles of a Goodguys car show and see Spectre Performance Air Intake Systems on several of the vehicles. This was just the case once again at the Goodguys show in Del Mar, California.
From the pits of the autocross to the cars displayed indoors, Spectre Performance Air Intake Systems were everywhere. Several of these air intakes were custom designed to fit one-off applications for custom builds or rare models where intakes were not available. Cold air intakes were also popular throughout the autocross pits. Many of the racers participate in other race series that benefit from cold air induction systems.
Spectre Performance Universal Air Intake Kits were also quite popular at the Goodguys Del Mar event. Look under the hood of the 1956 Chevy, brought out by James Crosby, and you would find a Spectre Performance Universal Air Intake setup. He was not the only one featuring this type of kit. Wes Drelleshak brought out his 1959 Apache to run the Goodguys Autocross. The Apache also featured a Spectre Performance Airbox with dual inlets and Spectre Performance air ducting components. The main purpose of both Wes and James setup is to draw in cooler air for better performance. Both vehicles participate in several other race series that allow them to see potential benefits from the Spectre Performance Universal Air Intake Kits.
Dick Eytchison’s 1966 Chevelle was also equipped with a Spectre Air Intake System made up of Spectre Performance Air Intake Components. The Chevelle featured an airbox with a single inlet and inline Spectre High Performance Air Filter, allowing for clearance in the engine bay along with cooler airflow.
The Spectre Performance display across from the Goodguys autocross featured two very different vehicles with Spectre Air Intakes. Chuck Felton’s 1970 Camaro displayed a Spectre Performance Vehicle Specific Air Intake for a second generation Camaro. The low profile dual plenum helped with hood clearance while the dual inlet allowed for greater airflow with less restriction. On the opposite side of the Spectre Performance display sat a 1966 El Camino built by Best of Show Coach Works. This vehicle was equipped with a custom Spectre Performance air intake system. By using the Spectre Performance mandrel aluminum tubing components, a cold air intake was made to fit within the engine bay while matching the look of the El Camino.
Each year we continue to see more Spectre Air Intakes at shows such as these Goodguys events.
