Cowl Hood Design Air Cleaners
Spectre offers two styles of cowl hood design air cleaner assemblies, the standard cowl and cowl tray design. These assemblies come with 3 inch, 4 inch or 5 inch tall air filters, either a powder coated or Extra-Flow air cleaner lid as well as are available in all 4 of our HPR colors, black, blue, red or white. The cowl assemblies are designed to meet up and seal with the hood with the air coming either from the cowl or a hood scoop. The cowl tray assemblies have an additional tray that extends to meet the firewall.

Cowl Air Cleaners w/ 3" Filters
Designed for carburetor and throttle body injection assemblies with a 5-1/8 inch neck, Spectre’s 14 inch outside-diameter by 3 inch tall cowl hood style air cleaner assemblies come with a Spectre HPR air filter with red, blue, black or white media. All four colors are available with either a powder coated or Extraflow air filter lid. The included powder coated drop base lowers the air cleaner 1.7 inches for an overall 2.6 inches from the carburetor flange to the air box sealing edge. The universal open top air box base is designed for cars and trucks with cowl style hoods and seals to the underside of the hood to isolate the filter from the hot under-hood air, drawing in cool outside air. This configuration may require use of Spectre air cleaner riser part number 4954 for some carburetor applications to clear fuel inlets or the electric choke mechanism.
